st. augustine amphitheatre venue poster
goals
During my time at M.C. Pressure, I got the opportunity to illustrate a limited edition numbered letterpress print for the St. Augustine Amphitheatre to sell as part of their permanent merch collection. The Amp has previously sold letterpress posters for specific years or shows, but the merch team wanted something to celebrate the venue itself and highlight its unique location in the Anastasia State Park.
process & results
After several weeks of collaboration and feedback, the design we landed on makes use of enclosing trees to create a cozy feeling—similar to the real-life venue, with foliage surrounding patrons on all sides. The design also features a few hidden surprises and easter eggs for those who look closely.
It is a three color letterpress print, making use of halftones to create two or three shades of each color. It was printed on French Paper’s Madero Beach using a 1970 Original Heidelberg Letterpress, and the final print measures 16 × 20 inches.
